Aashna & Aniruddh's wedding in the mountains of Mussoorie, JW Marriott

#ComeWhatMay. Never has a hashtag been this relevant and meaningful. Over the last year, Aashna & Aniruddh faced whatever challenges life threw at them with a smile on their face and unconditional love in not just their hearts, but also the hearts of their friends and family. And so, when they got married in May at The JW Marriott in the mountains of Mussoorie, ‘Come What May’ had become more than just a hashtag - it was a collective cheer for having conquered hurdles together, and a rallying cry to come together and face any more challenges that life would bring. To stand united in the love of family & friends. And we were fortunate to be in the midst of all this, witnessing and experiencing it, and growing as human beings.

When Aashna & Aniruddh got married in May, the wedding party was a “warm, intimate one, almost like a fairytale”, as Aniruddh’s sister Malvika refers to it. We couldn’t agree more. So scroll down for the photo story and a few snippets from their wedding film.

Day 1: The Mehendi

The day before the official celebrations began, Aashna got her mehendi done in the evening alongside wood fired pizzas and music, surrounded by her and Aniruddh’s family. Here, we see Aniruddh being surprised by the strong fragrance of Aashna’s mehendi.

We also got the chance to make some pretty nice family portraits. By the way, Aashna has two sisters, Anjali & Anushka, who are non-identical twins.

And an epic one with Aashna’s bridesmaids as well. “Look at the camera like you own the room”, we said.

Day 2 - The Ganesh Pooja & Haldi

Day two was fairly packed, but thanks to the intimate nature of the wedding, it felt like a breeze. It all began with the Ganesh Pooja, where both sets of parents prayed for an auspicious beginning to the marriage ceremony.

We then moved to the terrace, where it didn’t take any time for Aashna & Aniruddh to be covered with flowers and layers of haldi (turmeric).

Between the Haldi & Sangeet, Aashna practiced her bridal walk with her bridesmaids on the lawns of the Marriott, Mussoorie. Obviously, Aniruddh wasn’t allowed to see this. Watch ‘Aashna Goes for a Walk’ below - just push play.

As the evening rolled around, Aashna & Aniruddh looked absolutely stunning for their sangeet.

Day 2 - The Sangeet

The sangeet was on the JW Marriott terrace, which offered a stunning view of the mountains. Anoli had lined up the roof of the terrace with hundreds of bulbs, which made it look absolutely magical.

Bryden & Parth kicked off the sangeet with a set of Bollywood fusion

It was then time for family & friends to shake a leg, after all the practices led by Dheeraj Sud

DJ Taher & DJ Amul then took control of the party when it moved indoors

Day 3 - The Wedding

Day 3 began with all the sisters getting ready together. Aniruddh on the other hand, was waiting for his sherwani to arrive

As Aashna finally got ready, Malvika & Maitri (Aniruddh’s sister & mum) were figuring out how exactly to drape his stole before they began the baraat

Aashna’s friends, Panna & Nijee came to sneak in a look at the groom and his baraat

As Aniruddh was being welcomed by Payal (Aashna’s mom), Aashna and her bridesmaids were assembling around their entry point

And then, Aashna entered and for those moments, it seemed like time stood still

And then they got married

When the wedding ceremony ended, Aashna & Aniruddh played their wedding games in the same room where the Ganesh Pooja began - it was like things came full circle

For the reception in the evening, Aniruddh’s groomsmen them with handwritten white T-shirts (courtesy Nijee) which read ‘Come What May’

Rhys made the last leg of the celebrations really memorable, taking his saxophone into the crowd on the dance floor, and dancing the night away along with everyone else
