We have arrived at the realisation that if we treat life as a journey, willing to follow paths that call out to us, we make heartfelt connections with some very interesting travellers on the way. Some of these connections are fleeting, and some end up in lasting friendships. Niharika & Trishy found love.
They met at a flight school in Gondia years ago, and magic was destined to happen. Both of them are pilots with Indigo Airlines, with Niharika being the third generation in her aviator family to fly a plane - the Bhasin family has clocked 100 years of flights among them. We spent half a week with them in Munnar a couple of months before the wedding, driving around the place and getting to know each other. We got bit by leeches, we trekked for hours to find the elusive Neelakurinji flowers (which didn’t bloom as expected), we laughed at silly things and shared Rum and coke on particularly chilly nights - we believe we formed what we hope to be a lifelong friendship.
And then, we experienced their wedding and got completely drowned in the love and affection of their family and friends. Niharika & Trishy got married at The Leela, Kovalam. We had been wanting to photograph & film a wedding at this property for a long time, but were waiting for the right one to come along. This was it. This was the only way in which it had to happen.
Beating drums welcomed the wedding party at The Leela, Kovalam. Niharika & Trishy had told us so many little stories about their families & friends, and we finally met them all in person. Anukriti, Neetika, Harini, Shruti, Tarini, Abhina, Diya, Sassy, Naki, Dishanck, Mama - meeting you guys was exactly how we expected it to be.
Singer-EmCee Rohan Sequiera kicked off the games evening at sunset, which saw the bride & groom teams test their skills against each other in a variety of crazy & twisted games. Both teams were super competitive, but in the end Trishy’s team took home the cup. Later that evening, Niharika went around asking every guest to spell their wedding hashtag, and the ones who got it wrong had to have a shot of whatever drink they were holding - sometimes several times!
The daytime mehendi on the next day kicked off with Niharika & Trishy entering to smoke bombs & dhol. It was super hot and humid, thankfully we had those tall palm trees for shade! The afternoon ended with everyone letting go of pink and white balloons under the TriKiiNii hashtag. The evening sangeet was an amazing mix of beautiful performances by friends and family, and a completely mad after party.
Niharika’s mom and friends made sure she burst out laughing as soon as she got a little emotional during her chuda ceremony the next morning. In the meantime, Trishy’s friends were getting him ready for the baraat. Niharika looked fabulous as walked down the aisle to ‘Afreen’. As she met Trishy at the varmala, he planted a huge kiss on her cheek as everyone cheered them on. The pheras on the beach were every bit as gorgeous and fun as we had expected.
The reception in the evening was a fitting conclusion to all that had come before. The love, and the drinks started flowing as soon as the bride & groom entered and flowed till early the next morning. That love has continued to flow in our hearts for Niharika & Trishy - and always will. Thank you guys, we truly love you and you know that. More in person now.
